Telugu Utsavam

On the occasion the staff and students were dressed in traditional attire. The entire school was decorated with diyas and rangoli to bring out the ethnic flavour not forgetting the traditional cuisine that was served on plantain leaves.

Prinicipal Meenakshi Raman said the ‘Telugu Utsavam’ was an attempt by the school to make children aware of the importance of the mother tongue in times when children are seen getting carried away by western culture. School Correspondent Vasireddy Amarnath said it is the primary duty of every individual to preserve the inherited culture.

Proud moments: Tiny tots from Slate-The School interact with inmates of Home for the Aged.
The students of first and second standards from Slate-The School had a very different experience when they were taken to old age homes. Class II students visited the Chandra Rajeshwara Rao Home for the Aged on August 12 while those from Class I were taken to the Little Sisters of Charity Home for the Aged on August 13. The students distributed fruits and new clothes to the senior citizen apart from interacting with them.

Naughtiness, active nature....sharp...funny..these are the qualities we see in children.Yeah. It's all about children's day. As every one knows,Children's Day is celebrated on account of b'day of Chacha Nehru that is 1st President of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. He is an exemplary!!!!!!!!!! He loved children. That is the reason we celebrate Children's Day.This year, children's day celebrations in Slate were typical. At the beginning of the day that is 14th November,2008,all the high school students had a very big BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!! A ghost came infront of them and started dancing. All the studs njoyed very well!!!!!!!!!After the programme, every one seemed to be Sherlock Holmes and started detecting who the person was.Through the estimations,it was found that the person who was dressed up as the ghost was none other than the Correspondent of Slate, Mr.Vasireddy Amarnath.Classes passed on joyfully till afternoon. After the lunch, all the Slaters assembled in the ground. There were many skits performed by the teachers. All the Slaters enjoyed very well!!!!!!!!!!After children's day celebrations, prizes for winners and runner ups of sports week were distributed. Green house bagged 1st and achieved prestigious ROLLING SHIELD of Slate. Mubarak of classIX was made the president of sports for the year 2008-2009.
